Documentation of Milindia’s CSR efforts in the domain of higher education for the year 2016-17

Background Context: In the year 2016-17, as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Milindia provided educational scholarships to students from marginalized communities pursuing Mechanical/Chemical/Oil technology engineering in two institutes of higher education in India. An endowment fund was established in two institutions, to provide scholarships for one student each – with a commitment to further the support in the subsequent years.
Objectives
Development Solutions was commissioned to assess and document Milindia’s CSR efforts in the domain of higher education for the year 2016-17. The objectives of the report were as follows:
- Document MilIndia’s CSR efforts in the domain of higher education.
- Monitor scholarships received by the employee’s children.

Impact
Scholarships have been provided in perpetuity to two students to pursue engineering education in a government college in Tamil Nadu. Deserving students from marginalized communities are selected and the scholarship is provided. Scholarships were also provided to 20 students across different locations where the company had factories - to enable higher education as a part of the yearly CSR efforts.
