Background Context: The ‘Jan Sahas’ has been working on addressing the issue of sexual violence against children and women in Madhya Pradesh. Since 2000, it has been able to identify the factors contributing to sexual violence and hardships faced by survivors and has since then, implemented multiple programs to address the problem.
Jan Sahas has worked through interventions targeted at survivors, their families, communities and systemic stakeholders (legal, medical and law enforcement professionals). Jan Sahas has worked on community awareness and the formation of survivor support platforms.
Objectives
Development Solutions was commissioned to conduct a study to document the best practices, strategy, key activities, interventions, and challenges and learnings of the “Jan Sahas” model.
Approach and Methodology
Impact
A theory of change was developed in consultation with Jan Sahas to define the key activities, outcomes and goals of the Jan Sahas model to inform decisions regarding scaling up of interventions and replicating the model in other states.
